PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES CHARGE' D'AFFAIRES OF BULGARIA
Having expressed his sincere gratitude for the reception, charge' d'affaires Ivan Palchev has once again expressed to President Ilham Aliyev his condolences on the occasion of the passing away of President Heydar Aliyev, and said this renowned political figure and statesman has been well known in Bulgaria since 70s of the last century. “But the visit by President Heydar Aliyev to Bulgaria in 1995 and negotiations held in its frameworks has brought Azerbaijan-Bulgaria relations to a new stage of development and the level of friendship,” he added. Pointing to the meeting of interests of our two countries, the Bulgarian diplomat noted that there were wide opportunities for political cooperation for integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures. He expressed Bulgaria’s adherence to urgent, fair solution to the problem over Nagorno-Karabakh, and his country’s support of the Azerbaijan’s efforts aimed at peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The diplomat also stressed that Bulgaria, as OSCE Chair in the first half of this year, would do its best for the sorest problem of the region – Armenia – Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh – to be settled within the frameworks of peace talks, norms of international low and principles.
Touching on economic and cultural issues, the Bulgarian charge' d'affaires announced that during the current year it is expected to hold the meeting of Azerbaijan-Bulgaria intergovernmental Committee, Days of Azerbaijan Culture in Bulgaria and Days of Bulgarian Culture in Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev has expressed his satisfaction with existing relationship between the two countries and pointed out the importance of the bringing political relations between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria to a higher level and continuation of the dialogue. Reminding the visit by Bulgarian Defense Minister to Baku, the Head of State expressed confidence that mutual visits of high-ranking governmental and parliamentary delegations would be paid frequently.
President Ilham Aliyev also expressed hope that Bulgaria, as OCSE Chair, would make concrete contribution to the resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
In conclusion, charge' d'affaires Ivan Palchev once again sincerely thanked President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the reception.
