PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN RECEIVED AMBASSADOR OF GERMANY CLAUSE GREVLICH
Expressing his gratitude for reception, the Ambassador once again revered memory of President Heydar Aliyev and said that the friendly and cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and Germany in the last ten years have developed in all fields just due to his tireless activity and great efforts. Reminding Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Germany in 1996, the Ambassador reminded that the visit gave a strong impetus to development of the bilateral relations, brought closer the two countries. The German companies that functioned in early XX century in Azerbaijan returned to Baku.
The diplomat expressed pleasure with the special attention of President to the social-economic field. He gave a high assessment to the Decree of President signed on November 2003 on acceleration of the social-economic development in the Republic of Azerbaijan stressing that the German official and business circlers have welcomed this document. He expressed his confidence that the Decree would play an important role in development of economy and improving of social conditions of the population.
Expressing his gratitude to the head of Azerbaijani state for high organizing of the volleyball Olympic Qualification Tournament in Baku, the German diplomat said noted that all the national teams have demonstrated good games stressing the best game s of the German team in the final.
The diplomat said that German would represent Ireland as the chair of the European Union and during this period would make efforts to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Expressing his satisfaction with the current state of the Azerbaijani-German relations, President Ilham Aliyev stated that as continuation of the expedient policy of the late Azerbaijan President Heydar Aliyev, the further relations between the two countries would strengthen in the political, economic and cultural fields and reach higher level.
Touching upon the volleyball tournament hosted in Baku, head of the Azerbaijani state congratulated the German ambassador with the victory of German nationals at the final of the qualification tournament and wished that they also won in Athens. At the meeting, also discussed were issues of mutual interest, after which the German ambassador expressed his gratitude for sincere reception.
