PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA TAKES UP HIS DUTIES
A ceremony of inauguration of President elect of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili was held at Rustaveli Ave, Tbilisi before the building of the Parliament. During the ceremony attended by thousands of peoples, numerous guests from 20 countries and over 100 journalists, the President was put oath and let the guests know about the program of his activity. According to him, priority directions in foreign policy include integration to the Euroatlantic community, cooperation with the USA in all spheres, close and friendly relations with Russia, and in domestic policy - revival of economy, combat against corruption, ensuring territorial integrity of the country, improvement of the level of education and medical service, removal of crisis in social sphere and others.
Azerbaijani delegation led by Chairman of Milli Majlis Murtuz Alasgarov also participated in the ceremony. The Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament met with his Georgian counterpart Nino Burdjanadze to discuss further deepen good neighboring relations, friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia, and improvement of socio-economic conditions of Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia and a number of other issues.
