Your Excellency, Mr. President

On behalf of the United Nations in Azerbaijan, I would like to express our deep condolences to you, the Government and the people of Azerbaijan for the death of your father, ex-President of the Azerbaijan Republic, Mr. Heydar Aliyev.

The passing away of Mr. Aliyev, who played such an important role in bringing peace, stability and development to Azerbaijan, is a great loss. Throughout his long career, he was an outstanding servant of his country and contributed greatly to the strengthening of Azerbaijan’s position in the international arena and to the development of fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations.

We share your family and people’s grief and wish you to successfully continue the work that he began.
