We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your father, President Heydar Aliyev. On behalf of Unocal Khazar Ltd and Unocal BTC Pipeline LTD, we offer our sincere condolences to your family and to all the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
President Aliyev’s leadership helped to build a strong nation and a more stable region and he was instrumental in making Azerbaijan prominent among the nations of the world. He will be remembered for having made a great contribution in the development of an independent Azerbaijan, including the great strides made to attract foreign investment to stimulate the growth and modernization of the energy sector for the nations’ benefit.
We are grateful for the life of President Heydar Aliyevand for the warmth of friendship and courtesles be bestowed upon many Unocal Executives while we and our predecessors were representing Unocal in Baku. We mourn his passing and we share in your national grief. His will be a lasting legacy to the benefit of generations to come.
