I was saddened to learn of the recent death of your father and I should like to express my deepest sympathy to You and Your family. I will remember meeting with your father when we came to Baku in 2001 for the second EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and I was particularly impressed by his commitment to the development of your country. He introduced many significant reforms that have promoted the prosperity of Azerbaijan. I also appreciated his contribution to the strengthening of EU-Azerbaijan relations. I am looking forward to this relationship being reinforced during your presidency and I wish You well in the challenges that you face.
Once again, please, accept my heartfelt condolences on this sad occasion.
