It is with deep sorrow that we learned about the passing away of your esteemed father, former President Heydar Aliyev, a statesman of world stature whose name will certainly go down in history as the builder of Azerbaijan as a modern nation.
During his long and eventful life in politics, Heydar Aliyev acquired undisputed authority as a man of peace and national reconciliation, a staunch promoter of constructive cooperation, based on the universally valid principles of international law, in the wider Black Sea region and in the world at large.
Having met him personally and having listened to his words of wisdom we have been particularly affected by this sad and irretrievable loss.
At this time of mourning, please accept the expression of our sincere condolence to Your Excellency, to the bereaved family and to the proud people of Azerbaijan.
