On behalf of the Government of Sweden, I wish to offer our deepest and most sincere condolences at the loss of a great leader and visionary of Azerbaijan, President Heydar Aliyev. As former Chairman of the Minsk group I also want to express my personal sense of loss of a personality, with whom I spent hundreds of hours searching for a fair, peaceful solution to the Nagorno -Karabakh issue. During this period a warm friendship developed, which I have cherished in my political, as well as my personal, life.
I convey me feelings of sympathy and compassion to the Government and people of Azerbaijan
