I was deeply shocked to hear about the sad demise of your illustrious father, President Heydar Aliyev. He was a great man who served his people and country with sincerity and honor. He laid the firm foundations of an independent and sovereign Azerbaijan in the most difficult of circumstances.
I had the privilege of visiting your country as a guest of the last President Aliyev. I saw at close hand the misery and plight of the refugees and the loving care with which your father served them. I also noted the steps taken for rebuilding of your country.
Your honorable father served his people long, first under the Soviet Union and then as a free country. He will be long remembered with gratitude. We in Pakistan values also the positive manner in which the late President Aliyev promoted relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan both bilaterally and within the E.C.O.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the demise of your honorable father. May Allah rest his soul in peace
