I was grieved to hear the news on the death of your father Heydar Aliyev.
I had an honor to meet him while accompanying ex-chairman of the Senate’s France-Azerbaijan Friendship group, my colleague Jean Buayyain in the course of the visit to Azerbaijan in 2001.
I was inspired by this statesman’s foresight towards building up the jural state in his country, strengthening its position in the international arena and improving the economic and social life of the people of Azerbaijan.
I do not forget Heydar Aliyev’s tireless efforts towards peaceful resolution of the sore conflict over Nagorno-Garabakh.
Please, accept my deep condolences on the sad loss of your father.
