We have received the sorrowful news of the demise of President Heydar Aliyev. Allow me to express our sincere condolences on the occasion of this irreparable loss. When a great politician passes away, they often say that the whole epoch has passed. With reference to Heydar Aliyev’s personality, these words may be multiplied by three or even four epochs. Although he was eighty years old, he was and remains in our memory as the most important person in the territory f the whole South Caucasus. His personal contribution makes it possible today, to describe Azerbaijan as truly independent country. Thanks to exactly Heydar Aliyev, the friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. Undoubtedly, strengthening of CIS became possible due to his wisdom and unexhausted labor. Until the last day of his life, he had been doing his best to ensure peace and stability in Azerbaijan. He contributed a lot to peaceful resolution of the Nargono-Garabakh conflict as well as to combating terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Heydar Aliyev was wise and reasonable politician under whose leadership hundreds of problems had been solved, kind, fair and careful man. He was the pride of his people and Republic.
The name Heydar means “going ahead of all”. We hope that all his projects and undertaking will be worthily continued, and the next generations will remember his name with respect.
We are mourning together with the people of Azerbaijan, and the residents of our immense country.
