PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN KEY ISSUE IN TURKISH MASS MEDIA
State TV channels of the country TRT-1, TRT-2, TRT Eurasia and NTV, and private channels CNN-Turk, Habar Turk, Channels-7, TGRT, Channels-d, Yeni Hsafag, Turkiyye, Posta and others aired detailed information about the elections held in Azerbaijan and its diplomatic representations on foreign countries.
Such news agencies as Anadoly Agency, Ihlas, Jihan circulated the information both about the course of the Presidential elections in Azerbaijan and hourly information on the results of voting among Turkish public. The information about the course of the elections was put on popular sited of that country, such as Internet-Habar, Habar-jet, Habar-Turk, TNN-habar, May-net, I-media and others.
Mass media of Turkey underlined that people of Azerbaijan was taking part in the elections well organized and with high enthusiasm. Turkish TV journalists as well as political observers say that Prime Minister Ilham Aliyev won majority of votes with big advantage, despite of the fact that official results of the elections were not published yet.
Political observers of turkey make accent on the fact that Azerbaijani electorate gave their votes not for promises, but for the continuation of real political course and stability. Announcement and articles connected with Presidential elections in Azerbaijan were published on October 16 under the titles “Ilham Aliyev’s triumph”, “Ilham Aliyev’s victory”, “Heydar Aliyev, I’ve chosen him. What about you”, etc.
Biography and photo of the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan were placed on pages of Turkish newspapers, Media of Turkey informs that a ballot box was supplied to the town of Cleveland, USA, where President Heydar Aliyev and the accompanying people could vote, Mass media of Turkey underlined that the elections were monitored by a great number of foreign and Turkish among them monitors, and no serious infringements were fixed.
