PRESS CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO RESULTS OF INTERNATIONAL MEETING
Executive Director of UN Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention Antonio Maria Costa expressed gratitude to state bodies of Azerbaijan for conducting the meetings at such a high level. He said that the main purpose of his visit is to participate in the 5th Baku meeting and meet with representatives of state bodies of Azerbaijan. He noted that thanks to assistance of state bodies he could visit some interesting places.
Speaking of the Memorandum, the guest stressed the significance of exercising of approved provisions and joint combat against illicit drug turnover. He noted that the parties came to agreement on how to prevent inflow of narcotics and reinforcing the frontier points among states. Most of participants supported the idea of founding the single body to act more effectively in this area. Mr. Costa stated that the UN Office is ready to help the countries that are fighting in this direction and assist to found a joint information bureau.
