PRIME MINISTER ARTUR RASIZADEH MET FOREIGN MINISTER OF TURKEY
Head of the Azerbaijan government greeted the guests, noting, this visit would promote the development of bilateral relations between the fraternal Turkey and Azerbaijan, and the two states were partners and a lot was done after regaining independence by Azerbaijan.
Speaking of the importance of the visit for development of the relations and significance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Erzurum gas pipelines projects, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizadeh stressed that as a result of resoluteness and wise policy of the prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev these projects are successfully being realized and would be completed in time. Prime Minister dwelt on the dynamic economy in the last years, saying the GDP has increased 11 percent and there were other accomplishments in social life of Republic. The only problem is the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict that remains unsolved. We would like this issue to be solved peacefully. To a great regret, destructive position of Armenia impedes it. Bitter sequences of this conflict are known. Should this problems be resolved we would have greater successes.
Head of the Azerbaijan government expressed gratitude to the Turkish state and government for adherence to Azerbaijan’s position, for support of the Country in admission to the international organizations.
Foreign minister of Turkey Abdullah Gul congratulated Artur Rasizadeh on re-appointment to the post of Prime Minister, conveyed greetings of the Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and said that the friendship and fraternity between Turkey and Azerbaijan are everlasting.
Currently, there are being realized several projects that will promote welfare of the people and enrich our two countries, he emphasized. All our meetings and talks aim at joint development. Azerbaijan and Turkey support each other in policy, economy and other fields and this will be continued in the coming years.
Speaking of the works done in the past years and underlining the necessity of further continuation of these works, Abdullah Gul said: “I pray for Heydar Aliyev, the great statesman of Azerbaijan and the Turkic world. We know that we not eternal. The main is to be remembered with your good deeds. We, all the Turkic world bow before the memory of Heydar Aliyev and will always remember his memory with respect and consideration.
Esteemed Abdullah Gul stated that a new ear started in Azerbaijan and wished success in the coming years, adding that the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict is not only Yours, but it is also the problem of Turkey. WE shall support each other in settlement of this problem, he stressed. We are resolute in this.
Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov, deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov, ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkey Mammad Aliyev, ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan Ahmed Unal Chevigoz participated at the meeting.
