First Congress of the ruling Justice and Development Party of Turkey was held at the ASKI sports complex of Ankara on 12 October. In his comprehensive address to the Congress, attended by 1464 Party representatives, Chairman of the Party, Prime Minister of Turkey Rejep Tayyib Erdogan made a report and spoke of the perspectives.

The Congress considered organizational issue. Mr. Rejep Tayyib Erdogan was unanimously re-elected as Chairman of the Justice and Development Party.
