Robert Lewandowski named 2021 'personality of the year'

Baku, December 28, AZERTAC
FC Bayern München striker Robert Lewandowski has been crowned 2021 'Personality of the Year' by sports magazine Kicker, according to the club.
The Pole follows Germany coach Hansi Flick, with whom he won the treble in 2020. The Bayern number nine is, fittingly, the German record champions' ninth winner of the award after Erich Ribbeck (1992), Thomas Helmer (1996), Lothar Matthäus (1999), Oliver Kahn (2001), Michael Ballack (2002), Franck Ribéry (2008, 2013), Bastian Schweinsteiger (2010) and Flick.
The award is firstly recognition of Lewandowski's consistent performances at world-class level. The 33-year-old entered new dimensions over the last 12 months with 41 goals in the 2020/21 Bundesliga season as well as 43 goals in the calendar year 2021. At the same time, kicker highlighted the forward's personal development, one which is characterised by professionalism, discipline, ambition and modesty. He also takes his role as an international star with social responsibility seriously.
