“ROUND TABLE” DEDICATED TO 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF TURKISH REPUBLIC
Opening the meeting, Rector of the University Salakhaddin Xalilov announced that a number of arrangements had been held on the occasion of the founding of the Turkish Republic at the initiative of the Azerbaijan-Turkey inter-parliamentary friendship group thus indicating high level of the ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Deputy Chairman of the inter-parliamentary friendship group, Deputy Nizami Jafarov said: “The Republic of Turkey founded thanks to prescience of one of the genius politicians of the Turkish world Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, today is one of the advanced countries, where democratic values, human right and freedoms are protected.”
After independence, the Republic of Azerbaijan has also reached high level of development due to the political course of our esteemed President Heydar Aliyev. The vivid evidence of this is the recent presidential elections held in very democratic, free and transparent atmosphere.
Adviser of the inter-parliamentary group Vagif Gasimov announced on the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey to be arranged, and future plans. According to him, week of Ataturk is expected to be held in Azerbaijan on 24-30th of November.
Other speakers spoke of the significance of this meeting, prospects of development of the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations. Then, the round table participants, on behalf of the inter-parliamentary group, have sent a letter of congratulations to the Chairman and deputies of the Great National Assembly of Turkey.
Present at the event were Ambassador of Romania to Azerbaijan Tasim Jamil, official of the Embassy of Turkey to Azerbaijan, deputies of the Milli Majlis, and teaching staff of the University.
