Round table on molecular biology, biophysics and biotechnology held in Baku

“Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Biotechnology and Issues of Personnel Training in Modern Medicine: Innovative and Ethical Problems” round table has been held as part of the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum.
Speaking at the event, rector of Baku branch of I.M.Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University Aziz Aliyev provided information about the university. He said the Baku branch was founded on the initiative of Azerbaijan`s first lady Mehriban Aliyeva in 2015. On behalf of the country`s medical community he thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the country`s accomplishments in the field of healthcare. He said 13 Nobel Prize winners attend the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum, adding that “five of them joined our round table today”. Mr Aliyev highlighted the agenda of the round table. “We will have three panel sessions. We will focus on the Challenges of modern medical science and the problem of medical education; Innovative and ethical problems of molecular biology, biophysics, biotechnology in the modern era; and Problems in expanding international cooperation on topical issues of modern medicine”.
A message of rector of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I. M. Sechenov Petr Glybochko was then read out.
Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, professor at the University of Southern California Arieh Warshel emphasized the contribution of biological systems to medicine.
Professor and Head of Illinois Lions/Charles I. Young Chair Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Mark Rosenblatt said he is visiting Baku for the second time. He praised Azerbaijan`s rich culture and hospitality. He spoke of problems in the education system.
Chief Medical Director and founder of Proton Partners International and Dean at the University of Buckingham, Medical School Karol Edward Sikora drew the audience`s attention to problems in the field of oncology.
Member of the Medical Council of India Muzaffar Ahmad highlighted the state of healthcare and medical education in his country.
