RUSSIAN PRESIDENT CONSIDERS UNSATISFACTORY EC’S REQUIREMENTS
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin named the terms forwarded by the European Commission on the Russian gas pipeline system instead of admission of Russia to the World Trade Organization (WTO) unsatisfactory.
“The gas pipeline system is production of the Soviet Union and only we can keep it in use, even its part out of the territory of Russia”, Mr. Putin stated at the Russian-Germany inter-governmental consultations in Yekaterinbourg. Vladimir Putin called the “possibility of energy purchase without Russia an illusion”. Head of the Russian state said: “Yes, there are such reserves in Uzbekistan, but only 4 of the 94 transmission installations are in use. The same is Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan”.
