SCIENTIFIC-THEORETICAL CONFERENCE HELD AT ENGINEERING PLANT AFTER SATTARKHAN
The conference initiated by the Republican Party of Azerbaijan was attended by Milli Majlis deputies, leaders of political parties and public associations, scholars specialized in metallurgy and engineering industry and Sattarkhan plant specialists.
Opening the conference chairman of the Consultative council Mammad Alizadeh said that development of the metallurgical and engineering industries was connected to the name of nationwide leader of Azerbaijan people President Heydar Aliyev. During his tenure, a solid foundation of the metallurgical and engineering industries was laid. All initiatives and innovations of Azerbaijani specialists were successfully applied in large Soviet plants. Unfortunately, Azerbaijan had sustained an economic recession in 1987-1992 because of the crisis of political power.
Chief of the State Oil Academy’s chair of process metallurgy professor Sanan Mustafayev reported on the “Metallurgic and Engineering Sectors and Socio-economic Development”. Rapporteur noted that work implemented in the metallurgical and engineering industries of Azerbaijan had promoted the development of other sectors of Azerbaijanis economy. In particular, production of units and equipment used in oil industry increased the economic power of Azerbaijan and improved the living conditions of Azerbaijan people. The scholar noted that economic development-related decrees signed by President Ilham Aliyev had livened up the metallurgic and engineering industries.
Speakers noted that successful continuation of oil strategy by President Ilham Aliyev, which had been earlier initiated by nationwide leader of Azerbaijan people Heydar Aliyev, ensured the stability of the economic development of Azerbaijan. They stressed that development of the heavy industry would improve the living standards of the population. Armenia-aggressor, which occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands, is worried with the rapid development of Azerbaijani economy. Our notorious neighbors are aware that economic progress of Azerbaijan is one of the key factors prompting a fair resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Garabakh conflict within the frames of the international law standards.
