SECRETARY OF SECURITY COUNCIL OF RUSSIA ARRIVED IN BAKU
Vladimir Rushaylo and Ramiz Mehtiyev answered the questions of journalists in the airport.
The head of the Security Council of Russia said that the delegation arrived in Azerbaijan at the invitation of the chief of Azerbaijani President’s Executive Apparatus Ramiz Mehtiyev. We are holding permanent work at the level of apparatuses of Security Councils. For recent times, our bilateral relations have qualitatively changed. These relations obtained the features of forecast, good attitude and partnership. It has become possible due to permanent contacts of the two countries’ Presidents: Russian Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani Heydar Aliyev due to visits to Baku of the head of the Russian state and of the President of Azerbaijan to Moscow, their phone contacts, consultations and dialogues. The impulse given by the heads of our states are being realized at different levels, at the level of ministries as well as by Security Councils. There are a lot of working groups; we have signed cooperation protocol, the head of Security Council of Russia Vladimir Rushaylo noted.
During this visit, a number of negotiations and consultations on international and regional security, international terrorism combat, illegal drug turnover and the issues related to frontier cooperation have been scheduled. Besides, the meetings with law enforcement minister are expected.
Speaking on the upcoming elections in Azerbaijan, the guest pointed out that Russia is following attentively this campaign and his country is “interested in succession of the course, we are interested that foreign policy went on in the context, which exists between the heads of the two countries, continued in the constructive direction”.
Speaking on the role of Azerbaijan in international terrorism combat, Vladimir Rushaylo said “we estimate contribution of the leaders of Azerbaijan on this issue, we are closely contacting at all levels and highly appraise aid to Azerbaijan rendered to Russia related the Chechen events”.
Answering the questions on possible links between bandit groups which committed a number of crimes in Zakatali region of Azerbaijan and bandit groups in Daghestan, the head of the Russian Security Council said “speaking about Daghestan, we think it is not the matter of bandit groups, these are organized criminal groups. We have this information, exchange information with colleagues and these issues are big solved at the level of our law enforcement organs”.
The chief of President’s Apparatus of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehtiyev stressed the existence of close contacts between the two countries. We are discussing at the negotiations every issue of mutual interest and, I must say, Russia always positively reacts to the matters raised by Azerbaijan. We, in our turn, share information with Russia.
