SOME 40 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES TO BE NOMINATED IN GEORGIA
In his remarks at the 15 October sitting of Government, President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze stated that according to the preliminary data, in the 2005 presidential elections some 40 pretenders are expected to stand for presidential candidates.
He expressed his confidence that the “the 2005 pretenders would not prefer populism as it is watched on the eve of November 2003 parliamentary elections, and not let excess.”
As far as president E. Shevardnadze himself, he will not run for elections in 2005.
One of the real candidates in the coming presidential elections is considered the chairperson of the Georgian Parliament Nino Burjanadze.
