Speaker of Kyrgyz Parliament Asylbek Jeenbekov resigns
Baku, April 13, AZERTAC
Speaker of Kyrgyzstan`s Parliament Asylbek Jeenbekov offered his resignation. He read his statement of resignation today at the beginning of the plenary session.
Before that, the Speaker noted that in connection with consideration of candidacy of Sooronbay Jeenbekov for the post of Prime Minister by the relevant committee, the chamber's work is adjourned.
"I was twice elected the Speaker of Parliament with trust of the President and deputies' support. As my older brother's candidacy is being considered for the post of Prime Minister, from April 10, I voluntarily resign from the post of the Speaker of Parliament," Asylbek Jeenbekov said, addressing his colleagues.
Vice Speaker of Parliament Nurbek Alimbekov will hold the parliamentary sessions from now on.
