STATEMENT BY PUBLIC MOVEMENT “IN THE NAME OF NEW AZERBAIJAN”
Unfortunately, leaders of some radical groups calling themselves “political party”, in particular, “Musavat” did not only concede elections but even resorted to breaking public order in Azerbaijan, disobedience to law-enforcement bodies, dirtiest actions in order to hurt civilians morally and physically. Isa Gambar who announced himself as “President of Azerbaijan Republic” a couple of days before the elections, openly stated that in case of failure to get that position he would resort to violate actions. As the election became clearer, foreknowing his defeat Isa Gambar started to take the dirty actions of which he stated before the elections. He took the reactionary groups out into the Baku streets that had been earlier prepared and consisted of hooligan and provocative groups. Unbridled reactionaries, armed with stones, bars, sticks, and bludgeons began to commit crimes in the central streets of Baku. They broke windows of shops, cars and attacked police officers injuring them.
These serious crimes committed by “Musavat” anger every person and us as well.
We consider that moral and legal responsibility for breaking public order in Baku, hurting and damaging people lies with the leadership of “Musavat”. We urge relevant governmental bodies to take emphatic measures to prevent the attempts aimed at damaging Azerbaijani statehood, undermining socio-political stability and safety of the population, embroiling Azerbaijan in the chaos and anarchy. We call on all Azerbaijani citizens to strongly condemn the dirty actions of Musavat inconsistent with any legal standards and fight the restoration of reaction in Azerbaijan.
