Yardimli, August 21, AZERTAC
The latest feature in AZERTAC’s “If I Were a Tourist” column highlights the Takdam waterfall in the Yardimli district.
The Takdam waterfall, standing out by its rare and striking natural beauty, is located in the south-west of the Yardimli district.
Located at the 25th kilometer of the Masalli-Yardımlı highway, in the Peshtesar mountain range, the waterfall flows from a height of 34 meters and is especially lush during the winter months. Although the water level decreases in the summer, it still attracts many tourists to its surroundings.
During the Soviet era, the only guard post in the mountainous and forested area of Yardimli was located right next to the waterfall, so the locals called it "Tak dam” (the Lone Roof).
Over time, the name given to the area became popular among the people, and the surrounding waterfall was known by the same name.
Historians say that this area, located 1500 meters above the sea level, was of strategic significance.
The roads extending from this area in the direction of Lankaran, Masalli, and Jalilabad districts were of great importance in terms of trade and security at the time.
