Tbilisi hosts meeting on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project
Tbilisi, January 26 (AZERTAC). Members of the coordinating council for the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project came together here Tuesday. The Azerbaijan delegation is led by Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov and Georgian one by Georgian Minister of Development and Infrastructure Ramaz Nikolaishvili.
The meeting of both ministers was followed by a gathering in the expanded format. The delegations discussed the state of railway building, construction of the 4km tunnel on the Turkey-Georgia border, facilitation of customs procedures, future plans etc.
“The beginning of the next phase in construction, project budget for this year, revising a loan agreement was discussed at the event. Revising the loan agreement envisages increase in interest rate. The Azerbaijan investment project is scheduled to earmark AZN 80 million to this railway this year,” Azeri Minister Mammadov told journalists after the meeting.
The next meeting of the coordinating council will be attended on January 26 by the Turkish delegation led by Minister of Transport Binali Yildirim.
