The National Bank of Azerbaijan starts creation of a pressing center on card payments within the framework of World Bank’s technical assistance project. Being a part of accounting and clearing systems on small payments, the project of this center creation was meant as the next step in payment system development in Azerbaijan.

A two-stage tender was announced, press service of the National Bank reports. Purchase of equipment and software for issue and support of international and local plastic cards basing on microprocessor and magnetic is presupposed by this tender.

Issue of these plastic cards is to give an opportunity of holding transactions both in cities, having modern telecommunication net and in the regions, not provided with such equipment, as well as for making small cashless payments. Side by side, pensions and grants in regions of the country and utilities payment will be done by means of plastic cards issued by the Processing Center.

The contract on card payments Processing Center creation is to be signed in 2004.
