THE HONORABLE ILHAM ALIYEVPRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN
On behalf of the Congressional delegation, I would like to express my sincere appreciation and thank you for the warm hospitability and reception shown us during our visit to Azerbaijan in August.
As you know, Baku was one of six cities in five countries that visited during our weeklong travel. Although we were there less than 24 hours, we truly enjoyed our stay greatly appreciated rich history and culture of Azerbaijani people and hope to have strengthened the United States - Azerbaijani bilateral relations, particularly, in the spheres of parliamentary affairs.
We greatly value to have met you and hope this will serve as a prelude to many more meetings. We will encourage President Bush and House Speaker Hastert to expend an invitation to you to visit and address the Congress early next year. I am looking forward to co-chairing the Congressional Azerbaijan Caucasus, as well as in the Congress - Majlis Group.
The continuity of political stability in Azerbaijan, and in the entire region of the South Caucasus and the Caspian Sea is an important factor for the deepening the U.S. - Azerbaijani relations. We wish you success in your formidable activity.
Sincerely,
Curt Weldon
Member of Congress
