THE PRESIDENT MEETS US COMMERCE SECRETARY CARLOS GUTIERREZ
Mr. Carlos Gutierrez said it is great honor for him to meet Azerbaijani President, noting that he attentively watches success of Azerbaijan. He estimated realization of the BTC pipeline project as a personal success of Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev.
Head of the Azerbaijan State highly assessed the role of the United States in development of the rich oil deposits, in particular, in realization of the BTC project.
President of Azerbaijan said there is no any problem and the pipeline would be commissioned this year.
Mr. Carlos Gutierrez said the USA government duly assesses the works Azerbaijan does for integration to world economy. US will expand cooperation with Azerbaijan both in oil and non-oil sectors, he stressed. He gave high assessment to the policy of President Ilham Aliyev in the foreign and economic-trade relations.

On 27 April, an official reception was arranged in honor of the Azerbaijani President in Washington.

President of Azerbaijan on 28 April has met in Washington with the defense minister of USA Donald Rumsfeld and Vice-President Deck Cheney.
The same day, President Ilham Aliyev left for home.
