THE PRESIDENT MEETS WITH CHAIRMAN OF JAPAN EXTERNAL TRADE ORGANIZATION
Mr. Watanabe pointed out the importance of the Azerbaijan-Japan economic forum, and highly valued President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the Institute of International Affairs on March 8.
He informed the Azerbaijani leader about activities of JETRO noting in particular that founded in 1958, JETRO is a non-profit and government-related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and other countries.
President Ilham Aliyev said for his part that cooperation with JETRO could open new opportunities for development of Azerbaijan-Japan relationship. He outlined his country’s economic potential noting that Japanese companies are actively involved in a number of projects in Azerbaijan. Stressing the importance of transit roads for development of international trade, the President pointed out that Azerbaijan gives priority to restoration of the Great Silk Road, and reminded of an international conference, which had been held in this connection in Baku.
