Moscow, March 14 (AZERTAC). The Russian Institute of Strategic Researches (RISI) and the Center of Strategic Researches under the President of Azerbaijan Republic (SAM) have signed Memorandum of cooperation. The document was signed by SAM deputy director Gulshan Pashayeva and director of RISI Leonid Reshetnikov.

The document will open new possibilities for increase of efficiency of mutual relations between the "think tanks" of countries, and also new prospects for cooperation. It has been noted that this contract is a fine example of cooperation of representatives of expert community of two states and will take a worthy place in a many-sided spectrum of cooperation of Azerbaijan and Russia.

The key goal of signing of the Memorandum is creation of conditions for carrying out of a free exchange of views by experts of the "think tanks" of two leading states concerning the Azerbaijan-Russian relations, the world policy, the geopolitical situation in region.

Azerbaijan and Russian "think tanks" closely cooperate already for more than two years, and signing of the Memorandum of cooperation is logic continuation of interaction of experts. IN the frame of cooperation, RISI in 2000 has prepared huge research on Azerbaijan, and now this work together with the Azerbaijani colleagues will be supplemented and updated. Also will be conducted joint researches dated for carrying out of the Baku international humanitarian forum to take place in October current year in Baku.

The same day a “round table” on the theme “Pressing questions of the Azerbaijan-Russian cooperation”, took place in residence of RISI. In discussions taking part were the SAM deputy director Gulshan Pashayeva, the leading adviser of department of the political analysis and information of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Farhad Mammadov, adviser-expert of SAM Heydar Mirza, and also head of RISI L. Reshetnikov, deputy director of RISI I. Prokofev and other experts who have discussed various aspects of development of bilateral Russian-Azerbaijani relations. In particular, also were considered the questions of the Russian-Azerbaijani relations in the context of settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, in strategic prospect, and also questions of world policy and external threats for Russia and Azerbaijan.

On March 15, delegation of SAM will take part on the next action on the theme “The Russian-Azerbaijani relations in the context of Southern Caucasus” which will pass in MGIMO. In the frame of visit, delegation of SAM will hold meetings and expanded discussions with known Russian experts on a number of important regional projects.
