TO ORTHODOX COMMUNITY OF AZERBAIJAN
I extend my deep congratulations to You – all the Orthodox Christians of Azerbaijan on the sacred Merry Christmas.
The Christmas Day, which is landmark with the birth of Prophet Jesus, is one of the important days that laid foundation of a new period of the history. The Christmas, being celebrated by all the Christian peoples of the world embodies the wishes of friendship, kindheartedness and tranquility of humanity. In Azerbaijan, where constructive dialogue of the numerous religions and cultures were ensured for centuries, celebration of Christmas is evidence to deep respect of our people for all religions and has always been celebrated.
The independent Republic of Azerbaijan, adhering the tradition of religious and ethnic tolerance of our people, has ensured in the legislation conscience and religious freedoms of all the communities, including the Orthodox Christians, created every condition for them to freely perform their religious rituals and holidays. The citizens of Azerbaijan Republic, confessors of Orthodox Christianity along with other representatives of religious communities, spare not effort for all-faceted development of the Azerbaijan Republic, take active part in the political, socio-economic and cultural life of the country.
Dear countrymen,
I would like to assure you that the state of Azerbaijan would further continue its political course aiming at happy life of every citizen of Azerbaijan irrespective of his or her religion, language and nationality.
I once again congratulate all of you on the Christmas Day, and wish each of you health, happiness and holiday spirit, and success in your work.
