Toronto hosts first conference of AYNA network
Toronto, May 3 (AZERTAC). The University of Toronto (Canada) on April 30 hosted a first conference of Azerbaijani Youth of North America - AYNA Network. The event was organized by the Azerbaijan Student Association of the Toronto University (UofT-AzSA) and the Azerbaijan-American Council.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Canada Farid Shafiyev, Azerbaijani students studying at the Alberta and Waterloo Universities, and representatives of the Azerbaijan community of Canada took part in the event.
The conference was opened by the President of UofT-AzSA Isgandar Gadirzadeh, who spoke about the main objectives of the event and AYNA network`s activity.
Prior to the discussions, the conference participants stood in memory of the victims of April 30, 2009 shooting at the Azerbaijan Oil Academy.
The forum featured presentations from representative of Turkish Federation of Canada Ilke Khinjer, President of the Morocco Association under the Toronto University Abdulkadir Filaki, popular Canadian journalist and author of the book “Irreconcilable contradictions: Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan” Scott Taylor. General Director of the Azerbaijan-American Council Javid Huseynov has delivered a speech about the historical and modern identity of Azerbaijan.
The participants then discussed AYNA programme for the upcoming year.
