UK newspaper on Azerbaijan
Baku, May 25 (AZERTAC). An article “Baku and beyond: a road-trip around Azerbaijan” by the renowned travel and food writer Kevin Gould has been published in The Guardian newspaper`s 21 May issue.
Writing about mud volcanoes and remote villages Kevin Gould has visited Ichari Shahar (Inner City) before touring the regions of the republic. He speaks that he constantly encountered “an irresistibly gallant form of hospitality.”
He explains the diversity of flora, fauna and foods in such areas as Lankaran, Astara and Sheki.
Kevin Gould has met Tony Adams, former England and Arsenal footballer, who now manages Gabala FC.
Mr. Gould writes that he has become the witness of religious tolerance in the country when visited the Caucasian Albanian church in the village of Kish and the 3,500-strong Mountain Jew community in Krasnaya Sloboda in Guba.
He attends a wedding in Ganja and visits a carpet workshop in Guba.
Being sad over the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict the author states that everyone he met was speaking of the non-implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions against Armenia.
He, thus, finalizes: “If you`re an aficionado of post-industrial ruins, of amazing nature, of exotic headgear, of world history, of kind gentleness and wild strangeness, Azerbaijan will surely light your fire.”
