UN ‘READY’ TO ASSIST AZERBAIJAN IN DEVELOPING ICT SECTOR
Baku, July 11 (AZERTAC). The United Nations` Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan has expressed the organization`s readiness to continue assisting the country`s government in developing the information technologies sector.
“The Trans-Eurasia Super Information Highway project is an example of this,” Fikret Akcura told journalists.
He expressed confidence the project would allow Azerbaijan to play the role of a transit information highway between Europe and Asia.
“And this will boost Azerbaijan`s development and also serve to prosperity of the whole continent,” he added.
Akcura is also Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Azerbaijan.
UNDP Azerbaijan is advocating for the development of Azerbaijan based on converting the country`s "black gold" (oil) into "human gold" (improved human capital). It is committed to bringing knowledge, experience and resources to help the Azerbaijani people to build a better life in partnership with the Government and international community.
