UN SECRETARY GENERAL VISITS AZERBAIJAN’S STAND AT WSIS
The Secretary General of the United Nations Mr. Kofi Annan visited the stand of the Government of Azerbaijan at the World Summit on the Information Society /WSIS/.
Mr. Annan visited the Exhibition Hall of the Summit on the eve of the plenary session to be attended by the Heads of Delegations including the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Mr. Ilham Aliyev and approached the stand of the Azerbaijan Government.
Mr. Annan has been briefly informed on the main avenues of development of ICT in Azerbaijan and at the concept of the Government to utilize ICT as and integral part of the national development potential.
The Secretary General refereed to his meeting with the President of the Azerbaijan Republic held the day before on 9 December 2003 as “very useful and productive” and wished success to the Azerbaijani delegation at WSIS.
