UNICEF to realize new program in Azerbaijan next year
Baku, December 18 (AZERTAC). On December 17 new office of UNICEF`s Azerbaijan representation opened in the "Dalga Plaza" business center.
In his opening remarks the head of Azerbaijan representation of UNICEF Mark Hereword noted that the organization functions in Azerbaijan since 1992. He underlined that in those heavy years in the country the organization participated in realization of many projects on support of children and youth, refugees and IDPs. During the subsequent period UNICEF has realized long-term programs on development of educational and public health systems and their bringing in conformity with the international standards.
As Mark Hereword informed, since 2011 UNICEF will start realization of 4th program in Azerbaijan. As he said, in the framework of the program new educational projects and youth development campaigns will be realized.
The deputy minister of youth and sports Intigam Babayev said that for years of activity in Azerbaijan the organization has carried out many interesting projects meeting modern requirements connected with children and youth. Having noted that the policy of the state is directed on improvement of social welfare and youth development, the deputy minister underlined that the youth and sports ministry successfully and effectively cooperates with the international organizations, in particular with UNICEF.
Representatives of the state bodies, embassies of foreign countries in Azerbaijan and public organizations attended the opening.
