US AZERBAIJNAI DIASPORA REVERED MEMORY OF HEYDAR ALIYEV
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to US Hafiz Pashayev, permanent representative of Azerbaijan Republic at the United Nations Yashar Aliyev.
President of AAC Tomris Azeri on behalf of head of the Newark City Municipal Council Mr. Donald Bradley conveyed deep condolence and read out the statement of honor of the Council to the participants. The CouncilВ’s statement runs:
В“Former President of Azerbaijan Republic was the leader of his nation. The people of Azerbaijan lost one of its great sons. During his term in power, President Heydar Aliyev conducted political, economic and democratic reforms, removed the chaos and arbitrariness in 1990s in the Country, achieved stability and provided for investment flow. Members of the Municipal Council know the activity of the late President and highly appreciateВ”.
Then, participants of the ceremony revered his memory with a moment of silence.
Also speaking were at the event the famous journalist Thomas Golts, professor Thaddeus Svyatichovsky, admirer and agitator of the Azerbaijani music, Jeffrey Werbook and others, who told their recollections on President Heydar Aliyev, characterized him a an outstanding statesman and politician, genius personality with unforgettable contributions in the history of the former Soviet Union, as well as the Caucasus.
Head of the State Committee on work with Azerbaijanis living abroad, Mr. Nazim Ibrahimov spoke of the role of Heydar Aliyev in establishment of the Azerbaijani Diaspora, noting that even in the soviet period Heydar Aliyev was always interested in the life of Azerbaijanis abroad. В“Therefore, they will unite around President Ilham AliyevВ”, he stressed. В“He wished to see solidarity and cohesion of not only the people of Azerbaijan, but also of the Turkish peoplesВ”, he underlined.
The ceremony ended in performance of Azerbaijani music by violinist, graduate of the New York Art School, an Azerbaijani Sabina Rakcheyeva.
