U.S. Global Health Security delegation visits Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A U.S. delegation comprising Becca Price, Project Director for the STRIDES project, Kyle Huston, Director of International Development at Black & Veatch, Steven Becknell, Regional Director for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional Office of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Joel Stanojevich, Deputy Regional Director, and Lia Gvinjilia, Technical Advisor at CDC, visited the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
During the meeting, ANAS President Academician Isa Habibbeyli highlighted the Academy’s role in advancing science in Azerbaijan, its focus on modern research challenges—especially artificial intelligence—and the expansion of its international cooperation, including full membership in leading global academic organizations.
Academician Isa Habibbayli emphasized the relevance of the U.S. delegation’s research in the context of recent global pandemics, noting that Azerbaijani scientists are also actively working in related fields within ANAS.
He highlighted recent advances in molecular genetics, genomics, computational biology, AI applications in medicine, drug development, and reproductive medicine, with findings published in leading scientific journals.
The ANAS President expressed confidence that joint projects with American specialists would produce significant results in the future.
