VETERANS: “AZERBAIJAN PEOPLE VOTED FOR HAPPY FUTURE, STABILITY AND PEACE”
Having unanimously supported Heydar Aliyev’s internal and foreign policy, the people elected the first deputy of “Yeni Azerbaijan” Party, Prime Minister Ilham Aliyev as their President. As all the Azerbaijan people, the veterans of Azerbaijan demonstrated high activity at the elections and firmly and clearly expressed their position.
The opposition leaders could not stand the defeat they sustained at the elections, in particular, leader of “Musavat”, and tried to wreak their anger by undermining the socio-political stability in Azerbaijan. They openly demonstrated their intentions to assume power by violent actions.
Being instigated by the leader of Musavat, Isa Gambar and his close followers, radical opposition committed disorders in the central streets and squires of Baku. They damaged administrative, trade, cultural buildings private cars and applied violence against the civilians injuring the policemen.
All those criminal actions arouse concern of the veteran society and the aged of Azerbaijan. We urge administrative authorities of Azerbaijan to give a legal assessment to those events and punish the culprits. We consider that “Musavat” who organized mass disorders for their minor political interests has no rights to exist any more.
We, the veterans, strongly condemn the illegal actions of destructive and reactionary forces. We state that responsibility for mass disorders committed on October 16 in the streets of Baku lie with the leadership of Musavat and its followers.
We call on veteran organizations, our old and aged to be watchful, assist governmental bodies to stop any provocations and safeguard the order.
