Vice-speaker of Azerbaijani parliament meets ICRC representatives
Baku, June 14 (AZERTAC). Vice-speaker of the Azerbaijan`s Parliament Bahar Muradova has today met with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The sides exchanged views on relations between the organization and Azerbaijan.
Muradova praised ICRC`s activity, noting the importance of expansion of relations among organization`s Baku office and state and government bodies.
The Vice-Speaker briefed the ICRC representatives on the progress achieved to solve the problem of missing persons, stressing the significance of cooperation in this field.
In her turn, Maria Teresa Dutli, the ICRC regional adviser praised Azerbaijani government`s support for their activity. She touched upon projects realized by the organization in the region and Azerbaijan, spoke of draft model law on missing persons.
ICRC is a private humanitarian institution based in Geneva, Switzerland. States parties (signatories) to the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols of 1977 and 2005, have given the ICRC a mandate to protect the victims of international and internal armed conflicts. Such victims include war wounded, prisoners, refugees, civilians, and other non-combatants.
