YOUNG AZERBAIJANI ARTISTS HAD FIELD DAY IN CYPRUS
According to rector of the academy, famous sculptor Omar Eldarov, the exhibition of paintings by young Azerbaijani artists staged in the Near East University, sparked a particular interest. Rector said such kind of events would be a kick-start to development of the cultural ties with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Serdar Denktash as well as Ministers of Education, Culture of this country, artists and visitors from Turkey. The activity of the team of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts was widely covered both in press and local TV channels.
Salhab Mammadov, initiator of the trip, secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Artists, pro-rector for international relations of the Academy, told AZERTAG correspondent that the exhibition will strengthen ties with the Near East University. Under the agreement, such trips are due twice a year. According to Salhab Mammadov, during the next trip in October this year, the students will depict not only Cyprus sceneries but also that of Azerbaijan.
Under the aegis of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Cyprus and Azerbaijan Union of Artists, the Academy is planning to arrange symposiums and exhibitions in Cyprus.
