29th Eurasian Economic Summit kicks off in Istanbul

The 29th Eurasian Economic Summit, themed “Global Responsibility: The World After War, New Power Balances, Search for a Common Future, and Living on a Planet with Depleting Water and Greenery”, has commenced with an opening ceremony in Istanbul, Türkiye.
Organized by the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, the event brought together diplomats, academicians, political analysts, religious leaders, and businesspeople from over 48 countries.
Azerbaijan is represented by Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, and Nizami Jafarov, academician and Head of the Ataturk Center based in the country.
First, the letters addressed to the participants of the summit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Uzbek Head of State Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as Nobel Prize laureate Aziz Sancar, were read out.
In his remarks, Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, highlighted the ongoing global challenges, adding that the global order has been shaken to its foundations. According to him, this forum aims to foster peace, democracy, economic cooperation, and social inclusivity.
Following the opening remarks, academician Nizami Jafarov; former Austrian Defense Minister Werner Fasslabend; former Croatian President Ivo Josipović; and others were awarded the “Medal of Honor” of the Executive Board of the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation.
The Summit will feature panel discussions themed “Energy and Economy in the Post-War World: Terror, Conflict and Forced Migration”, “Global Peace”, “Living on a Planet Where Water and Greenery Are Depleting”, “Democracy, Women and the Future of Peace”, and “The European Union in the Light of Changing Global and Economic Values”.
