Azerbaijani Deputy PM meets with Iranian Energy Minister

Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev has met with Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Akbar Mehrabian.

The sides noted the existing high-level political dialogue between the two countries and emphasized the importance of the meeting between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi held in Ashgabat on June 29.

The successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in various directions, especially in trade-economic, transport, energy, and cultural fields was noted. The role of regular contacts and mutual visits in development of relations was highly appreciated.

During the conversation, the sides also pointed out the effective cooperation in the field of energy. They also discussed the works carried out towards connecting the electricity systems of the two countries.

The sides also exchanged views on the progress of the construction of "Khudafarin" and "Giz Galasi" hydro junctions and hydroelectric power plants on the Araz River, as well as a number of new projects to be implemented taking into account the new realities that have emerged in the region.

During the meeting, they also discussed prospects for further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
