Azerbaijan inks intellectual property management agreement with Korea
Baku, October 12 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents and the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade have signed a grant agreement on Automatization of Intellectual Property Management System.
The document was signed by Chairman of State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov and Korean ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Chi-han.
Speaking to the signing ceremony, Hasanov said that in accordance with the agreement, $4.2m grant funds would be allocated by some tranches within two years.
“This agreement is aimed at establishing a computerized system to automate the administrative work for the creation of intellectual property, the preparation of a national information database and the formation of the National Digital Library of Intellectual Property. To this end, Korean KIPOnet system will be applied in Azerbaijan.”
Hasanov noted the agreement provides for the establishment of a Training Center under the Committee in order to transfer knowledge and skills, as well as necessary technologies to the interested sides.
Under the two-year project, the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will fund the provision of Azerbaijan`s patent system with modern computer, server and other necessary technical equipment.
