Azerbaijan joins 8th Hongqiao International Economic Forum in China

A delegation of Azerbaijan led by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, visited the People’s Republic of China to attend the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.
The Expo brought together governmental officials from different countries, including Li Qiang, Prime Minister of China, as well as representatives of international organizations and heads of international leading technology companies.
Additionally, the 8th Hongqiao International Economic Forum was held on the sidelines of the Expo.
Addressing the forum, Elnur Aliyev, Azerbaijani Deputy Economy Minister, briefed the participants on the efforts aimed at establishing the digital and sustainable economy in Azerbaijan. He outlined the development of human capital and the innovation-driven economy as the top priorities of Azerbaijan’s development strategy.
According to him, the collaboration with Coursera creates new economic and educational synergies between government agencies, universities, and international partners. More than 45,000 citizens in Azerbaijan have already acquired knowledge and skills within the "National Program" launched through the joint cooperation of the Analysis and Coordination Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4SIM) under the Ministry of Economy, the Education Development Fund under the Ministry of Science and Education, and the U.S.-based company "Coursera."
