AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT INAUGURATES SUMGAYIT TECHNO PARK
Baku, 22 December (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today launched a number of facilities built within the first phase of plans to create a techno park in Sumgayit.
The park, whose total square is 45 hectares, will feature a number of factories manufacturing electrical products. Putting the techno park in commission will boost Azerbaijan`s power industry and increase the country`s potential to manufacture competitive products.
The facility will create 3,000 jobs.
The President first inaugurated Sumgayit-3 indoor sub-station.
Etibar Pirverdiyev, chief of Azerenerji, the country`s major electricity company, told the President the techno park was one of its kind in the South Caucasus.
The President then toured a plastic pipe factory and copper and aluminum electrical rods factory.
Afterwards the Head of State laid a foundation stone for a plant which will manufacture 500 kilovolt power cables. The President was told the facility would have no analogues in the CIS, and that there were only seven such plants across the world.
The President talked with power engineers and constructors. He told them creation of the techno park would “boost Azerbaijan`s economic and industrial potential”.
