Kazakh President highlights importance of Trans-Caspian Route

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev identified the North–South and Western China–Western Europe corridors, as well as the Trans-Caspian Route, as priority transport routes for his country. He made the remarks at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
He noted that integrating these routes would significantly enhance the efficiency of the entire continental transport system.
Tokayev announced the launch of the large-scale Aral–Caspian Highway project, which will connect China with the Caspian Sea and, further, with European markets. Once completed, the highway is expected to shorten the road distance between China and Europe by around 1,000 kilometres and reduce cargo transit times by up to three days, he emphasized.
The President also proposed establishing a portfolio of flagship industrial and technological projects for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for 2027–2030, focusing on the production of high-value-added goods.
