CIS countries to join forces in fight against cybercrime
Turkmenbashi, October 9, AZERTAC
The member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will step up cooperation in combating cybercrime.
The Concept for the Development of Information Cooperation in Countering IT Crimes was signed at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State held in the Awaza tourist zone.
The document was developed within the framework of the Interstate Crime Prevention Program for 2024–2028 and the Action Plan of the CIS Council of Interior Ministers on Combating Cyber Threats.
The Concept establishes the legal, organizational, and scientific-methodological foundations for cooperation among law enforcement agencies of CIS member states. It provides for improvements to the legal framework, regular expert consultations, joint research initiatives, and the exchange of professional expertise.
One of the key areas of cooperation will be the creation of an interstate database of digital footprints associated with crimes, as well as the introduction of automated channels for their rapid transmission.
Additionally, CIS countries will establish a shared repository of materials and best practices aimed at preventing high-tech crime.
