Azerbaijan students made presentation about Azerbaijan in U.S.
Baku, August 11 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan students, invited by the University of Alabama in Huntsville, have organized a Day of Azerbaijan as part of IREX Education Program `The Study of the United States Institutes for Azerbaijani Young Leaders on Civic Engagement (SUSI)`.
The presentation was held at Frank Franz Hall with a participation of more than 100 foreign guests.
In the presentation, Azerbaijan students Samir Gadirov and Linara Aliyeva briefed the guests on history, culture, geography, music, national dress and cuisine of Azerbaijan.
The Study of the United States Institutes for Azerbaijani Young Leaders on Civic Engagement (SUSI) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State. The SUSI program provides opportunities for undergraduate students from Azerbaijan to attend a six week non-degree program in the US. Participants are selected through an open, merit-based competition.
The SUSI Program consists of pre-departure orientation in Azerbaijan; Academic Residency Program at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) which focuses on exploring civic engagement and includes one week of intensive English language study; A Regional Study Tour to significant U.S. civil rights sites in Selma, White Hall, and Montgomery Alabama; A Regional Study Tour to the Tohono O`odham Indian Reservation in Arizona; a Closing Workshop in Washington, DC.
This program is contingent on U.S. government funding.
